Pretty awesome life right now.  Living in St. Louis, so come visit, because I have an extra bed.  If you have kids you will have to bring a playpen or somewhere for them to sleep, because I do not have/need that yet! :)

So, in the middle of the recession, I found a job that supports me.  And I will have insurance, and vacation, and five-day weeks, and ... and... it's in the middle of the recession, and despite that, God blessed me and I feel soooo thankful.

German men can be very cute.

Regarding the following quotes,

"But a friend of a friend has a son who lived in Iowa and he wants to move back to the States, and she thinks I should meet him......... this is danger!"

"caught up in my german life and looking at other guys.  Like the one I met last week."

So there could be, in the very near future, a man.  Well, he already exists, but I don't want to give into the dating scene quite yet.  But there is a man, sort of.  I wasn't sure at first if he was sane, but now he is not only sane, he's very cute.  And a bit musical.  And generally a very considerate, quiet man.

I have my visa too, which means I can stay until the end of May.

Short update:

I'm now in charge of the two older girl scout troops.  Oops.

There is no man.  If there was a man, I'd tell you.  As it is, I can only tell you that what man there once was seems to be caught up in his American life and looking at other girls.  That's fine.  I'm caught up in my german life and looking at other guys.  Like the one I met last week.  Not that he's SO on my level... but I'm interested to see what kind of a guy he is.

I get my Visa Tuesday!

and that was it.

But my life isn't that interesting?

What, do you think I went off to be a missionary to have a fun time and see lots of fun things?  Updating is REALLY hard, you have to think of things to say, then say them.

  • Working at a church in Germany with kids and scouts... as an observer.... is very different from beginning to take care of the program.  Friday I'm in charge of the scout girls, and Sunday I have 3-4th graders.  I like the age group, and they like to make fun of people who mispronounce things.  The only problem anticipated is that the planned activity is very active, and with many normally active boys, I have to be creative, and come up with some ... extra peaceful and interesting activities for afterwards.
  • Still playing musical houses... on house number 5 or so (Pastor's, Yvi's, Silke's, Katja's, Vacation house in church vacation), the last before the vacations are over.  Then, I got back to home, back to normal.  As normal as normal can be.
  • There is still no man.  This is not a problem, unless a cute one presents himself and I make too many thoughts about him.  The last cute one has driven away.  But a friend of a friend has a son who lived in Iowa and he wants to move back to the States, and she thinks I should meet him......... this is danger!
  • I have finished a report in German.  The pastor edited it and sent it to press immediately.  His editing said approximately what I meant, but not exactly.  We'll see if I can get a more accurate message across next time.
  • The Visa problem isn't a problem right now... I'm here until at least December with a special three month extension so that they can work on my application, and I may get a visa in a couple weeks.
  • Church vacation was cool.  We went hiking in the mountains, and saw Eastern Germany.  I added the Czech Republic to my list of countries stepped into, and I got to see how most of the Czech Republic is still falling apart due to communism.  Eastern Germany is kind of the same-- you see all kinds of buildings falling apart, which almost isn't allowed in Germany.  There are all sorts of ca. 1970's cars running around because... for a long time, that was all there was.  We did sightseeing in a renovated part of the Czech Republic, but half to three quarters of the houses we saw were in sore need of repair...
  • We went mushroom hunting in the mountains on one of our hikes.  I hunted some with my camera because it would have been dangerous otherwise.  Some faves...
  • OK, that's all I got to before I got distracted....

  • I often have to edit my posts as I type because I say unimportant things that don't interest anyone but me... I make jokes and have to delete them because I'm the only one who thinks they're funny!

Woohoo!  After ten or so months of not blogging, I just found the new button for writing a weblog entry!  Somehow, I felt like everyone was up to date with my life (and I TRULY think they are, thank you wonderful Facebook) without updating here.  Still, Xanga is amazing.

    Rundown:

    • Working at a church with 60 members and around 30-40 youth/kids in SW Germany. Working mostly with children and scouts.
    • There is no man.  This is not a problem, until a cute one presents himself and I make too many thoughts about him.
    • Playing musical houses at the moment while everyone is on vacation
    • I have learned enough German that they are asking me to prepare devotions and reports in German.  This is incredibly difficult!
    • Trying to get a visa here stinks, and seemingly, I'm suddenly somewhat pro-amnesty for all Mexican citizens in the USA because it's more about greed and bureaucracy than sovereignty.
    • What man boy there was at one point, hopes that my visa doesn't come through.  How sweet  rude.
    • I am a German scout now...a girl scout if you will even though they don't call it that... a strange feeling of which I am quite proud.  I can now built tents out of black tarps and I now have a new ten commandments for my life-- the scout commandments.
